Hudson View on a Hazy Afternoon

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the early impressionists. I live and work in the Hudson Valley, in a woodland studio west of the river in the mid-Hudson region. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com

My art is available from my studio, from this blog, and through several fine galleries which represent me and have my work hanging on their walls all the time. More of my paintings are on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
Some of those paintings are sold but some are available.

Gallery addresses in Peekskill, NY; Pound Ridge, NY; Poughkeepsie, NY; Pine Plains, NY; Millbrook, NY and Great Barrington, Mass. are given in other blog posts. Hope you will keep reading. My studio is in a romantic setting 2 hours north of the NYC metro area, a very pleasant excursion especially at this time of year.

I have photographed the painting above in its ornate museum quality frame. The canvas is 24x30", and in its frame it is almost 34x40" on the wall. At the moment the painting is in my studio, and will probably eventually be consigned to one of my galleries where it will be priced in the $3000. range. I will consider fair offers and/or payment plans for sincere collectors.
If you purchase a work from this blog without seeing the original, the painting can be returned for a refund within 30 days. I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks.
I am very experienced and competent at packing and shipping art and ship by USPS, FedEx and DHL, insured of course.
Please read more blog posts including those you can see by clicking "Older Posts" at the bottom of this page. Please ask any questions--I would love to hear from you!
Have a great Memorial Day. Best, Ellen

The Patriarch (Red Maple)

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the European and American impressionists. I live and paint in the Hudson Valley of New York State. This blog is about my art and contains art images, background info, art chat, exhibit and purchase info. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and I have blog entries dating back to March 2007 through the link "Older Posts" at the bottom of this page.

The painting above is entitled "The Patriarch (Red Maple)" and is a 16x20" oil on canvas on view at Arlington Art Gallery, 32 Raymond Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY. Poughkeepsie is a venerable Hudson River town and the gallery is open 7 days a week for those who like to view art in a gallery setting. This painting is one of my most recently finished and is framed in a museum quality traditional gold frame that brings its size on the wall to over 24x28". As framed it is priced $1600. The gallery phone number is 845-473-2787.
This view and its mellow colors was inspired by the works of Jasper Cropsey, whose autumn views of the Hudson River and environs set a standard of beauty for future generations. Like many of Cropsey's works, this painting was meant to capture a moment in time and usher the viewer into the physical and inner repose of contemplation.
I sell from other galleries as well and by appointment from my studio, which is west of the Hudson about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area. It's a delightful drive especially at this time of year. More of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni and www.bearsystems.com/EllenPerantoni/
And I sell from this blog--if you purchase a painting from a digital Internet photo without having seen the original, the painting is returnable within 30 days for a refund. Most people feel the beauty of my work in actuality exceeds that which digital photography can capture.
If you read more posts on this blog you will see some paintings that are not in galleries and can be viewed at my studio or purchased directly from the blog.
I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks. I am experienced and competent at packing and shipping art and ship vis USPS, FedEx and DHL, insured of course.
I hope you will read more blog posts and return to this blog often. I would love to hear from you. Have a great day, Ellen

Tranquil Evening

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni and I paint the landscape in oil, in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the later impressionists. This blog is about my art, its images, background, art chat, exhibit and purchase info. I try to post every weekend but this weekend was so beautiful I spent little time at the computer. As my art is nourished directly by enjoying the outdoor beauty around me, perhaps my priorities were correct after all. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com

The painting above, "Tranquil Evening" is a panorama of a bend in the Hudson River through the delightful hazy light that has helped make the region's art memorable. Filtered through this gentle atmosphere, the rays of sunset create a glow that make the proverbial rose colored glasses unnecessary.
This painting is a 12x16" oil on canvas that I've framed in a handsome wide but simple antique gold frame that brings its size to over 20x24" on the wall. As framed, it is priced $850. on exhibit at Berkshire Art Gallery, 80 Railroad St., Great Barrington, Mass. The gallery is open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon and often on weekdays during the summer. Contact Jack Wood at the gallery for further info, jhwberkart@hotmail.com or call 413-528-2690.
More paintings are also on view at my studio and at other fine galleries in the Hudson Valley that represent me. Gallery info and addresses are given in my other blog posts so I hope you will read more posts. Click on "Other Posts" at the bottom of this web page to see these earlier posts.
My art is represented in California by Bodega Bay Heritage Gallery.
I sell works not being exhibited in galleries from my studio, which is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area. And I sell from this blog--if you purchase a painting from an Internet image without seeing the original, the painting is returnable within 30 days for refund. I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks. I am very experienced at packing and shipping art, insured of course.
I hope you will read other blog posts and return often. Have a great day!

Red Trees Below Olana

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the impressionists. My style might also be described as atmospheric realism. I live and work in the Hudson Valley of New York State and my e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com

The painting above is entitled "Red Trees Below Olana" and is currently on exhibit at The Driftwood Gallery in Peekskill, NY, a charming riverfront city on the east bank of the Hudson. The actual painting is sharper than this digital image--digital photography is not adequate to capture the detail and depth of my paintings, which are done in a series of delicate glazes. This painting is on 12x12" stretched canvas in a wide antique gold frame that brings its size on the wall to almost 20x20". As framed, it is priced at $575.
The Driftwood Gallery is located at 44 N. Division St., Peekskill, NY and is usually open Wednesday through Saturday afternoons. At this moment the above painting and ten other paintings are on display at The Driftwood. You may wish to call gallery owner Inge Dube at 914-788-4650 ahead of time before making the trip.
I hope you will continue to read the other posts on this blog and return often. I try to post every few days with an art image, background and current news about myself and my art, art chat, and exhibit/purchase info. At the bottom of this blog page you can click on "Older Posts" for previous blogs and previously posted art images.
If you wish to purchase a painting from this blog or from my art pages www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni or www.bearsystems.com/EllenPerantoni/
you can return the painting for a refund within 30 days if you are not delighted with it when it arrives. Usually people think my paintings look much better than a digital photo can convey.
When I sell from my studio or from this blog I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks. I ship by USPS, FedEx and DHL, insured of course. I am very experienced and competent at packing art.
I also paint "View Portraits" (a term I have copyrighted) on commission, and can do a favorite view at your favorite time of day and time of year.
Enjoy the blog posts and have a great day! I would love to hear from you. Ellen
