Panorama Along the Upper Hudson, and Commissioned Art:

Hello, art lovers and blog readers!  This is Ellen Perantoni, with another oil painting of a sunset view of the glorious Hudson River.  This is a view from the eastern shore, looking southwestward toward the distant Catskill Mountains on a calm evening.  I live and paint in this wonderful region and am able to to enjoy and paint such views with minimal travel.  I've been posting art images, art chat and purchase info on this blog since 2007.  You can see a quick overview of my art on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni and my e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com

This painting is drying in my studio after a great many hours of work, contemplation and refinements of the lighting and the many details (the latter do not show up very well in a digital photo).  It is on a 20x30" stretched canvas and is priced $2600.  I can frame it in a variety of appropriate frame styles or a style of your choice;  you can see some of the styles I use in other posts on this blog.

I also paint collectors' favorite views in the manner of the Hudson River School as commissioned works.  I can paint a view at the client's favorite time of day and time of year.  I can start such a painting on site if possible, or paint from photographs.  If you have a favorite view you would like painted please contact me for more info.

If you would like to see this work or others before purchase I will be happy to show it by appointment;  as I said I believe it would be better appreciated in actuality.   My studio is about a 2 hour drive north from the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in NY, NE, NJ and eastern PA

If you purchase a work from an Internet photo you can return it for a refund within 30 days if you are not delighted.

If you prefer to view art in galleries I also have work on display in fine art galleries which are listed elsewhere on this blog, or please contact me for the exhibit nearest you.

Farmhouse in the Valley

Hello, art lovers and blog readers!  This is Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil, in the manner of the Hudson River School of the nineteenth century. My paintings generally show nature in its pristine aspect but in ths case I could not resist painting this valley home as the hideaway many of us would love to have at one time or another.  The farmhouse seems to grow almost organically at the base of the hill.  You don't know whether the sky is going to clear up, storm, or become a spectacular sunset. I have been posting in this blog since 2007 with art, art chat and exhibit/purchase info.  I live and paint in this wonderful region, where much of the landscape is little changed since the 19th century. More of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni and my e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com
This painting is currently drying in my studio.  it is on stretched canvas sized 16x20" and I will probably frame it in a traditional walnut frame, to harmonize with the soft browns  Or I can frame it to suit the collector who purchases it.  It is priced at $1500. plus framing cost if the purchaser wants me to frame it.
When you see the actual painting you see it has almost a 3-D look, which I achieve by intensive work, not by piling the paint on thickly   Like all my art, it evokes a mood and an emotion using the realistic elements of the scene.
If you would like to see my art before purchase I will show it by appointment at my studio.  The studio is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area,  and within a few hours of most points in New England, NJ and eastern PA. If you purchase a work from an Internet photo without first seeing the painting you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most people think my paintings look better than the very limited digital photos on the Net.
If you prefer to view art in galleries, a list of galleries and exhibits where my art is shown can be found in other blog posts.  I hope you will enjoy reading more of these posts;  to see more please click on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this page.
Have fun!  I would love to hear from you.  best, Ellen

View from the Park

Hello, art lovers and blog readers!  This is Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in the manner of the Hudson River School, that uniquely American school of art born in the nineteenth century.  I live and paint in the Hudson Valley of New York, and today I took my mind off the current February blizzard by finishing this painting of the way this beautiful valley looks at the very beginning of fall.  Some of the leaves are already showing scarlet, but the foliage as one looks west toward the mountains is still mostly green.  Lazy clouds sail across the sky.  This blog contains art chat, art images and purchase info.  My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and more of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni

This painting is on stretched canvas 12x16".  This work has been sold to a collector, but more paintings of the Hudson Valley can be seen at my studio and at art galleries that represent me.

The fine detail and subtleties of color cannot be appreciated from this digital Internet photo. If you would like to view similar works in my studio I will be happy to show them by appointment.  The studio is in the forested foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in NY, New England, NJ or eastern PA.

If you purchase my art from an Internet photo without seeing the original you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted.  Most collectors feel my art looks better in actuality and they love it.

My art is also in selected fine galleries such as The Driftwood Gallery, Peekskill, NY; Kaaterskill Fine Arts, Hunter, NY; Green, Saugerties, NY.   I also exhibit in periodic art shows and have one or two studio sale weekends a year.  Therre is one coming up in August 2013 and another this spring, on a date TBA.  Please contact me for further info.

I have been posting on this blog since 2007.  To read more posts click on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this page.  I hope you will enjoy it, and I would love to hear from you.  Ellen Perantoni
