Cloud Arabesques, Seen from Olana
Hello, friends and art lovers! I am Ellen Perantoni, and I paint the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School of the 1800s. I especially love the skies of master painter Frederick E. Church, and the lyrical countryside of George Inness. I live and paint in the mid Hudson Valley about 100 miles north of New York City, and I feel privileged to be able to paint many of the same wonderful places that inspired the pantheon of master artists of that day. Much of the original beauty of this region has been preserved and has changed little. As a painter I can flick away such interferences as telephone poles and industrial parks with my paintbrush, in a manner photo editing still cannot cannot duplicate. More of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni and my e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com These blog posts go back to 2007 and comrpise a recent history of my life and art. I hope you enjoy them.
The painting at right is entitled "Cloud Arabesques, Seen from Olana". It is a view of the Hudson Valley from the back lawn of Church's Moorish inspired home Olana. Church thought his view the most beautiful in the world, and I am drawn to paint it again and again in its various atmospheric moods. This painting is drying in my studio. it is 11x14" and is $900. framed it in a traditional style gold frame.
If you'd like to view this work or any of the paintings at my studio I show my art by appointment. If you prefer to view fine art in galleries, I am represented by fine galleries from Peekskill, NY up the Hudson Valley and across the Catskill Mountains up to Hunter, NY. Please contact me or browse this blog further for gallery info and hours. Starting July 14 I will exhibit at At the Top in Rhinebeck, NY. On August 11-12 my studio will be open to the public as part of a town wide studio tour featuring 40 artist studios. To be on the mailing list for this studio tour and receive a studio map please contact me.
If you purchase a work of art from my internet photos without seeing the original, you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most people feel my art has more liveliness and depth than the digital photos.
