Art at the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour August 8-9, 2009:

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! Hope you are enjoying the summer, and that you will consider a trip to the beautiful Catskill Mountains the weekend of August 8 and 9. This is the weekend of the Saugerties Art Tour, in which I am participating by opening the summer studio where I create my oil paintings, inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School.
I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil and I live and paint in this beautiful mid-Hudson region, in the picturesque township of Saugerties, which fronts on the Hudson River and extends up into the mountains. My e-mail address is and youc an e-mail me for info about the toru, including a free illustrated map to all the studios, info about lodging in the area, etc.
The studio is about 2 hours north of the NY City metro area and within a few hours of most points in New England, PA and NJ.
The painting at right is entitled "View from Creek Lock Road" and shows one of the memorable scenes of quiet beauty that abound in this region, where small streams wind down from the Catskills to join the Hudson. The gentle peace of this scene of a bend in the Rondout Creek is blissfully soothing.
The painting is an oil on canvas 12x12", and is framed in a museum quality wide but simple gold frame that complements the work. This is among the paintings, studies and prints that I will have at my studio for the SAT tour August 8 and 9 from 10-6.
If you are interested in attending the tour--which will also include 30 other art and craft studios in the area--please let me know and I will mail you a free map to the studios. Or view
Please read other blog posts for more images of my art, art chat and purchase info. Some of my paintings are in the fine galleries which represent my work in three states; info on these is in other posts in this blog dating back to 2007.
Please let me know any questions you have and also view
Hope to see you SAT weekend!
Best, Ellen
