Rosy Sky, Seen from Olana

Hello friends and art lovers! I hope you've been enjoying the summer as much as I have, painting the beautiful views of the Hudson Valley that I love. I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School master painters of the nineteenth century. I live and paint in the heart of the Hudson Valley, and am grateful that so much of the beauty of this region ahs changed little since the 1800s. And if there is a factory or mall or even a telephone pole to dispel the magic of nature in a scene I want to paint, I can simply dismiss it with a few strokes of the brush. I love the natural world as it is and yet I often change it subtly, to create the most interesting paintings I can. More of my art can be seen at www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni and my e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com This work is a sunset view of the land and sky seen from Frederick E. Church's home Olana on the east bank of the Hudson River. It has been sold to a collector.  The sweep of river and sky from this favorite vantage point is a frequent source of delight and inspiration for me. You can view similar paintings by appointment at my studio, which is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and a few hours from most points in New England, NJ and eastern PA. My art is also on display in fine galleries such as Green, Saugerties, NY; Kaaterskill Fine Arts, Hunter, NY; The Driftwood Gallery, Peekskill, NY. Please contact me or read more of these blog posts for information on these art galleries. I also paint "View Portraits" (a term I have copyrighted) of clients' most beloved places. I can paint your favorite view at your favorite time of day and time of year. We are having a near-perfect August day today with only a few clouds in the sky to add interest to a landscape painting. You can see I love to paint dramatic skies! I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts as far back as 2007. Have fun! I would be happy to hear from you. Best, Ellen
