Corona Above the River

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni and I paint the landscape in oil, in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the American and European impressionists. I live and work in the Hudson Valley of New York State and I love to paint the beauty around me, which in many places is not changed much by encroaching industry. My blog posts contain painting images, background info about me, the art process, art chat, exhibition and purchase info. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com

The painting above is entitled "Corona Above the River", a view across the Hudson from the east bank looking west. It is inspired by the rolling land that slopes gently to the river above Rhinebeck. The colors of the actual painting are stronger and more rosy than the photo appears on my monitor. I've framed this 5x7" painting in a massive deep bronze-finish frame that brings its size on the wall to about 11x13". I've just finished the painting and it is for sale; if the buyer wants different framing I can accommodate.
More of my paintings are on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
Some of those paintings are sold but many are available.
This painting was sold by Berkshire Art Gallery, 80 Railroad St., Great Barrington, Massachusetts. More of my art is on view there and they are open every Saturday and Sunday from 12-5. I am represented by galleries in Peekskill, NY; Pine Plains, NY; Pound Ridge, NY; Millbrook, NY; and Great Barrington, Mass. My art can also be ordered through Bodega Bay Heritage Gallery in Bodega Bay, California. For specifics on the gallery nearest you please e-mail me or read more of my blog posts. I've given names, addresses and phone numbers of my current galleries.
Or, I will sell paintings that are not in galleries from this blog. If you wish to visit my studio to view the art, it's located about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area. I am happy to host studio visits by appointment.
If you purchase a painting from the digital image on the Internet, you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. As I execute my paintings in a series of delicate glazes, most people feel digital photos do not nearly do them justice and they look much better in actuality.
I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks. I am very experienced at packing and shipping art, insured of course.
If you have a favorite view you would like immortalized in a painting, I can paint your view at your favorite time of day and time of year.
I hope you enjoy this blog and will read more posts, and click on the link "Older Posts" at the bottom of this page.
Have a great weekend! I would be delighted to hear from you. Ellen

Sunset on the Esopus Creek

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni, and I paint the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the later impressionists. I live and work in the Hudson Valley where the Hudson River School of art was born, and I enjoy many of the same spectacular and meditative views that inspired the nineteenth-century landscapes of this region.

This is a series of blog entries with images of my paintings, background info about me, the art process, art chat, exhibition and purchase info. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and more of my paintings can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni

The painting above is "Sunset on the Esopus Creek", a 16x20" oil in a museum-quality heavy gold frame that brings its size on the wall to about 25x29". As framed, it is priced at $1600. At this time, it can be purchased from this blog or at my studio by appointment. My studio is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area.

I guarantee the purchaser's satisfaction with any painting purchased from this blog without seeing the original. If you are not delighted with the piece when it arrives you may return it within 30 days for a refund.

As I execute my paintings in a series of delicate glazes, most people feel the originals look a lot better than a digital photo can convey.

I will consider a fair offer and/or payment plan from a sincere collector. I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks. I ship insured via USPS, FedEx and DHL and am very experienced in packing and shipping art.

I also paint "View Portraits" (a term I have copyrighted) on commission, and can paint your favorite view at your favorite time of day and time of year.

Several fine art galleries in the Hudson Valley area, New England and California represent my work and have paintings on view. Please read my other blog posts for the location and hours of the gallery nearest you, if you prefer to view fine art in a gallery setting.
I hope you will read more of this blog and return to it often; I try to post every few days, though now that spring has returned to this area I will be spending more and more time out in the field painting en plein air. I would love to hear from you and will be happy to answer any questions. .
Have a great weekend! Ellen

My Painting "Two Trees" Added to Whistler House Museum of Art Permanent Collection:

Greetings, art lovers and blog readers. I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the European and American impressionists. I recently had a solo exhibit of my work at the Whistler House Museum of Art and am delighted the Museum has acquired my work "Two Trees" for its permanent collection.
Yes, as you might guess the Museum was once the home of master painter James McNeill Whistler. Today it is a museum and in addition to work by Whistler the Museum has art by John Singer Sargent, William Morris Hunt, Aldro Thompson Hibbard and William McGregor Paxton among others.
So as you can imagine I am honored that my work is in such illustrious company.

and I hope you will read further blog posts with images of my paintings and other info.
More of my art is on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni

Oil Paintings, Limited Edition Prints on Paper and Canvas

Hello. I am Ellen Perantoni and I paint the landscape in oil, in a realistic/atmospheric style inspired by the Hudson River School and the Impressionists. Posts on this blog will have images of my paintings, info about me and the art process, art chat and purchase info. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com

I paint only in oil, but in addition to my original oils I sell limited edition signed prints of some of my most popular works. These limited editions start at $35. for prints on paper, or start at $95. for prints on canvas. The prints on canvas can be displayed without a glass covering, just like my original oils.

The print above is of my painting "Hudson Valley from Olana, October". The original painting was sold by the former River Gallery of Irvington, NY for $2000. The detail in the foliage is more clear in the actual print and the sky colors are more vibrant.

This print on heavy archival paper stock is in a handsome double mat which will fit into a standard 11x14 inch frame. This print is #160 of a limited edition of 250. Its cost is $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping and insurance.
This is the only double mat I have in these colors, so once this print is gone I probably won't be able to get this mat color combination again. Do you need a larger size, or perhaps a set of prints? Just let me know what you like, after browsing through my other art images. I have other prints made up of paintings that sold in the past and are not in my online database. I can e-mail you images of other prints that are already made up, matted and unmatted.
I accept PayPal and funds drawn on USA-based banks.

Many of the paintings you will see as you read this blog, as well as those on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni are available as signed prints. If you see a painting you would like to have as a print, please inquire.

I'm excited about the prints on canvas, as those have much of the look of an original oil painting at a fraction of the price.
If you are interested in an original oil, some of the ones I have available can be purchased from directly from me or through galleries that represent me in the Hudson Valley and New England. Names, addresses and phone numbers of some of my galleries are given in other blog posts.
Or, you can purchase directly from me. You can see my work at my studio by appointment. I am less than 2 hours from the NYC metro area. If you purchase an original oil directly from the Internet image without seeing the original, you can return the painting for a refund within 30 days.
I hope you will read my blog posts often. I will post frequently. And I'd love to hear from you! Have a great Sunday, Ellen
