God's Jewelry, on Blue Velvet

Happy Thanksgiving! to all art lovers and blog readers. This is Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School. I live and paint in the Hudson Valley of New York State. At this time of year, I cannot resist a tribute to the astounding pristine beauty of the winter skies to come, when dream meets reality when you gaze at a winter sky with a salting of stars and the moon coyly drifting behind the clouds. I can be reached at eperantoni2006@yahoo.com
This work is entitled "God's Jewelry, on Blue Velvet". It is on 16x20" stretched canvas, framed in dark gold as shown. In the frame it is about 21x25" on the wall. At present it is in my studio and will probably be consigned to one of the fine art galleries that represent me in the Hudson Valley, New England and Calif. It will be in the $1700. price range. i would consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector.
I show my art by appointment in the studio, about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in New England, NJ and PA. Please contact me if you would like to see this work and others.
If you purchase a work from an Internet digital photo without seeing the original, you can return it for a refund within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most of my collectors are.
Enjoy the weekend and have a great Thanksgiving holiday!
I would love to hear from you.
Best, Ellen

A Brief Artist Statement/Bio...

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! This is Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School. I have lived in the Hudson Valley for decades, from my birthplace in New York City as far north as Albany. I now live and paint in a secluded studio on the slopes of Overlook Mountain, between Saugerties and Woodstock in the mid-Hudson Valley. I can be reached at eperantoni@yahoo.com
The painting at right shows detail from a view of Kaaterskill Clove in the northern Catskills. I will exhibit this work (subject to prior sale) at a show November 29 at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation, 1682 Glasco Tpk., Woodstick, NY from 10am-4pm.
I have a BA from New York University and have professionally produced creative work in many fields, from writing to composing music to fashion design. But painting is the best! My true love.
I studied oil painting with Hong-Nian Zhang, perhaps the pre-eminent living Woodstock painter, at the Woodstock School of Art. Hic color theory stands immortal in my mind.
I cherish all the nuances of the Hudson Valley landscape and have focused more and more on the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School for inspiration. My goal is to paint "better than photorealism", showing all the beautiful details and with a depth no photo can match, especially not digital ones on the Internet!
I am listed in AskArt, the major directory of respected living (and deceased) US artists. My work is in the permanent collection of Whistler House Museum of Art, along with work by J. McNeill Whistler and John Singer Sargent. I also have paintings in respected private collections including that of former NYS Governor George Pataki, a fellow Hudson Valley resident.
For the past several years I have focused on the dramatic and changeable Hudson Valley skies and their cloud formations. Recently I've been widening this focus to include more detailed treatment of the graceful foliage of the region.
I strive to paint clouds that look fluffy, leaves that look feathery, rocks that look eternal, and water that is still and silvery or turbulent, as the case may be.
Naturally I interpret, but I want to interpret so the reality looks even better, and the paintings draw you into the scenes and make you want to stay.

Reservoir, Catskill Mountains, and View Portraits

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! I'm Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School. Here is another of my recent Hudson Valley panoramas, still drying in the studio. This time of the year, I love to paint the delicate tints that autumn gives the foliage. These blog posts contain art images, art chat and purchase info. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and my paintings are also available at selected art galleries.
The paintings at right, entitled "Reservoir, Catskill Mountains" shows a view that enthralled me on a drive through the mountains on a warm afternoon of spectacular cloud formations in this region of variable skies. The painting is on 20x30" stretched canvas and I plan to frame it in a traditional wide gold frame which will bring its size on the wall to almost 30x40".
I show my art by appointment at my studio, about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area. Or, if you prefer to view art in a gallery setting, I exhibit at several galleries mostly in the Hudson Valley and also in New England and California. I hope you will read further blog posts (going back to 2007) for addresses and contact info on the galleries that represent me.
I will be showing my work myself on November 29, in an art show at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation between Woodstock and Saugerties, ten minutes from Exit 20 of the NYS Thruway. The 29th is a SUnday and the show will run from 10-4. I'll there to personally meet and chat with collectors, browsers and friends.
If you purchase a work you like from an Internet photo and you are not delighted, you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most people feel my work looks a lot better in actuality, as I paint using techniques that give the work great depth.
I also love to paint "View Portraits" (a term I've copyrighted) of clients' favorite views as commissions. If you have a favorite view you would like painted--at the time of year and time of day you choose--please contact me for info.
Well, today looks like a beautiful sunny autumn day to paint, so I'm off! I would love to hear from you. Have a great day,
Ellen

Beaches Along the Hudson

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School. I live and paint in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State, "on the spot" where many of the masterworks of the 19th century were created. I am happy to see that many of the wonderful places are little changed, and the magic of the changeable and dramatic Hudson Valley skies has not changed either. I can be reached at eperantoni@yahoo.com This blog contains art images, art chat and purchase info. More of my art is on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni and on yahoo and google.
The painting at right is entitled "Beaches on the Hudson" and features a narrow rocky shore with a few pines silhouetted against a flare of cloud color at sunset. It measures 20x30". I just finished it and it's still drying in my studio. I will frame it in a museum quality traditional gold frame which will bring the size to about 30x40" on the wall. It's a great size and shape for a dining room or over a fireplace. It will probably be consigned to one of the galleries that exhibit my work and priced in the $3400. range. I will consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector.
If you purchase a painting from an Internet digital photo you can return it within 30 days for a refund if you are not delighted.
Or, I will show this work and others in my studio. Each August I open my show for my town's studio tour weekend, on a Saturday and Sunday. Usually it's the second Saturday and Sunday of each August, but please contact me for the exact dates and times--on tour weekend you can browse without making an appointment or even introducing yourself. At other times of the year, I show my art by appointment. The studio is about 2 hrs. north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in New England, NJ and PA.
If you prefer to view art in a gallery you will find the names, addresses and contact info in other blog posts of galleries that exhibit my art. Most are in the Hudson Valley, but also in New England and Calif.
I hope you will read more of the posts on this blog. To see posts and images going back to 2007 click on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this web page.
Have a great weekend!

Ellen

Cloud Arabesques, seen from Olana

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! I am a painter of the landscape in oil, and I live and paint in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State. I have been revisiting Frederick Church's estate, Olana, overlooking the Hudson and each time I go there I fall in love with the view all over again. I am also in love with the art of master painter Church, and his art and that of other Hudson River School painters is a constant inspiration.
This blog is about art images, art chat, purchase info and some Hudson Valley lore. My e-mail is eperantoni@yahoo.com and more of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
The painting at right is entitled "Cloud Arabesques, seen from Olana" and captures one of those memorable moments when wispy clouds in a sunset sky seem to dance and form tongues of gentle fire. Such moments are passing and fragile, and I love to save them in my paintings.
The painting is 11x14" on stretched canvas, and I will frame it in a wide gold frame. You can see some of the framing styles I use in my other blog posts. Right now it's still drying in my studio. Eventually I may consign it to one of the fine galleries that represent me in the Hudson Valley and elsewhere. Some of my other blog posts give info on the galleries, locations, hours, and contact info. This painting will be priced in the $850. range. I will consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector.
If you purchase a painting from an Internet digital photo without seeing the original, you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most people feel my originals look better than the dot-matrix photos on their computers.
I also show my work at my studio by appointment. The studio is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in New England, PA and NJ.
I paint the Olana views and scenery often, so if you love this view you can watch and browse for my other Olana view paintings in other sizes, and at different seasons and times of day. The panorama is ever-changing and always fresh and beautiful.

Hudson River Shallows, Morning

Hello, fellow art lovers and blog readers! It has been a while since I posted here but it's been a busy summer. Now that fall foliage color is emerging in the northeast I expect to be even busier in the next few weeks. I am Ellen Perantoni, a painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School. I live and paint in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State, where the Hudson River School (the first uniquely American school of art) came into being in the 1800s. I paint many of the same beautiful scenes that inspired the masters of that era.
The painting at right, "Hudson River Shallows, Morning" was created on a morning in August when a soft pearl-like fog hovered on the banks of the Hudson. I was walking down the path along the shore to the Saugerties Lighthouse when the beauty of this scene captured my eye and I had to paint it. Sitting on a bench on the narrow strip of beach, I did. The Hudson River is an estuary, which means a tidal river into which the tides from the Atlantic ocean ebb and flow. At high tide, much of the reeds in the foreground are under water. Thus, the shoreline here is ever-changing.
The painting is on 8x10" stretched canvas, and is still drying in my studio. I will frame it in a wide traditional gold frame and it may be consigned to one fo the fine galleries that represent me. It will be priced in the $550. range. I will consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector.
I also show my art by appointment at my studio, which is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in New England, NJ and eastern PA. If you purchase a painting from an Internet photo without seeing the original you can return it for a refund within 30 days if you are not delighted.
I hope you will read more blog posts. At the bottom of this web page, click on "Older Posts" to read posts going back to 2007.
The day is turning bright and I look forward to painting more today.
Have a great weekend.
Best, Ellen

Late Afternoon, Kaaterskill Clove

Hello, art lovers and log readers! I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon (early impressionist) school. I live and paint in the Hudson Valley of New York State. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and more of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
The work at right is entitled "Late Afternoon, Kaaterskill Clove". Clove is the Dutch term for a valley or ravine; this dramatic valley descends through the northern Catskill Mountains to join the Hudson.
This spot was painted by a number of the original Hudson River School painters, such as Sanford Gifford. I love the spot too, and decided to paint it as it appears at different times of day, and at different seasons. The difference light makes in the appearance of a landscape is an impressionist concept, which enriches my love of Hudson River School art.
I just sold this painting to a collector who visited my studio. I'm working on two more paintings of this view at different times of day: one view captures the very last light of day, when the sunlight is just a few blazing rose-gold lines on the horizon, and one view of the clove in early afternoon as the leaves are just beginning to change color in fall.
If you purchase work from an Internet photo and are not delighted with it, you can return it within 30 days for a refund. But most people feel my art looks better in reality than id digital photos.
I hope you will browse more of my blog entires and also web pages www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
Another day of painting is about to begin. Have a great week, and I would love to hear from you.
Best, Ellen

Landscape Painting Workshop October 5-7, 2009 with Ellen Perantoni

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School. The image at right is one of my paintings sold at the recent Saugerties Art Tour this past weekend.
I will be conducting a fall color landscape workshop, teaching outdoors by my mid-Hudson Valley studio this fall from October 5-7. My studio is about a 2 hr. pleasant drive north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours of most points in eastern New York State, New England, NJ and eastern PA.
The workshop will start on the 11 acre mountainside property by the studio, then progress to other scenic spots in the nearby mid-Hudson region. Fall is spectacular here, and perfect for painting outdoors.
Each day the workshop will run from 9am-4pm. The fee is $325. and the group will be small, so I can give greater personal attention to each individual. The workshop is for all ages from age 17 up.
Please contact me at eperantoni@yahoo.com for further information. I will fax or send you a flyer/reservation form on the workshop. A deposit of $165. will reserve your place and the balance is due by September 30.
I hope you will enjoy browsing these blog posts dating back to March 2007. To see older posts, click on Older Posts at the bottom of this web page.
I would love to hear from you with any questions about this workshop, future workshop dates and other art matters.
Have a great week!

Art at the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour August 8-9, 2009:

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! Hope you are enjoying the summer, and that you will consider a trip to the beautiful Catskill Mountains the weekend of August 8 and 9. This is the weekend of the Saugerties Art Tour, in which I am participating by opening the summer studio where I create my oil paintings, inspired by the Hudson River School and the Barbizon School.
I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil and I live and paint in this beautiful mid-Hudson region, in the picturesque township of Saugerties, which fronts on the Hudson River and extends up into the mountains. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and youc an e-mail me for info about the toru, including a free illustrated map to all the studios, info about lodging in the area, etc.
The studio is about 2 hours north of the NY City metro area and within a few hours of most points in New England, PA and NJ.
The painting at right is entitled "View from Creek Lock Road" and shows one of the memorable scenes of quiet beauty that abound in this region, where small streams wind down from the Catskills to join the Hudson. The gentle peace of this scene of a bend in the Rondout Creek is blissfully soothing.
The painting is an oil on canvas 12x12", and is framed in a museum quality wide but simple gold frame that complements the work. This is among the paintings, studies and prints that I will have at my studio for the SAT tour August 8 and 9 from 10-6.
If you are interested in attending the tour--which will also include 30 other art and craft studios in the area--please let me know and I will mail you a free map to the studios. Or view www.saugertiesarttour.com
Please read other blog posts for more images of my art, art chat and purchase info. Some of my paintings are in the fine galleries which represent my work in three states; info on these is in other posts in this blog dating back to 2007.
Please let me know any questions you have and also view www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
Hope to see you SAT weekend!

Night on the Inlet

Happy Summer to all! I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School painters and the work of George Inness. I live and paint in the Hudson Valley of New York State, surrounded by the same views and magical light that inspired the original nineteenth century masters in this uniquely American style. This blog consists of art images, art chat and purchase info.
The painting at right is entitled "Night on the Inlet". I love to paint the landscape at all hours and all seasons, and I'm intrigued by night and the enchanting possibilities night offers when the moon is full enough to create silvery glows in the sky and to frost the peaceful scenes below.
I am inspired by the John Herald song "Hats off the the Cajun Moon" and though the ponds and wetlands of the Catskills are well north of Cajun country, I think of the spell cast by this rapturous music and its delicate mandolin work when I paint such scenes of hushed waters and trees at night.
This work is 14x18" on stretched canvas, framed as shown in a complementary wood frame. The oil as framed is almost 20 by 24". This painting is priced $1150. as framed. I will consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector.
For those who prefer to view work at a gallery, I am represented by several fine galleries in NYS, New England and California. These are Green (gallery), Saugerties, NY; Berkshire Art Gallery, Great Barrington, MA; The Driftwood Gallery, Peekskill, NY; Kaaterskill Fine Arts, Hunter, NY; Bodega Bay Heritage Gallery, Bodega Bay, CA. Addresses and contact info for these galleries are given in other posts on this blog, or ask me for the gallery nearest you.
More of my art images are on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni If you purchase a painting from an Internet photo you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. But most people feel my work looks a lot better in actuality--I paint with considerable depth in a series of glazes, and digital photos don't capture this very well.
I also love to paint "View Portraits"--a term I have copyrighted--of clients' favorite views. Other people's ideas about what to paint enrich my perceptions and it is fun to take someone's wishes and bring them to life on canvas.
To view more blog posts, please click on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this web page--I have blog posts with art images going back to March 2007.
I would love to hear from you readers to discuss Hudson Valley art and history. Well, I will get going now...it looks like a lovely day to paint. Have a great week! Ellen Perantoni

Rainbow Sky Seen from Olana, a Study

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! This is Ellen Perantoni again; I'm a landscape painter, working in oil and inspired by the Hudson River School painters of the 1800s, and also the Barbizon School as explored by George Inness. I live and paint in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State, the same beautiful region immortalized by those master painters. And I am delighted that it has not changed much.
This blog has images of my paintings, art chat and purchase info. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and I started this blog in March 2007. You can see posts going back that period by clicking on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this web page.
The painting at right, entitled "Rainbow Sky Seen from Olana, a Study" is on 5x7" artist board in a museum quality carved bronze-gold frame, which brings its size on the wall to about 13-1/2" by 11-1/2". This work was recently sold to a collector.
This is the view from the rear lawn of Frederick Church's famous estate "Olana" overlooking the upper Hudson. Master painter Church felt this view was the best in the world, and I can see his point. I have painted this view many times, in many sizes, by night and day, at all seasons and under spectacular skies.
My art can also be seen by appointment at my studio, about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area. It's a nice trip and a lovely area to visit at this time of year.
If you purchase a painting from a digital photo on this blog and you are not delighted with it for any reason, you can return it within 30 days for a refund.
I am now going to plan my painting day tomorrow.
Have a great week, and I would love to hear from you.

Lighthouse Path on the Hudson and 2009 Saugerties Art Tour Weekend August 8-9

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! This is Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School of art and the slightly later Barbizon School. I live and paint in the Hudson Valley of New York State. I and my art really come alive at this time of year, when the foliage returns to the trees and dramatic weather variations inspire drama in my paintings also. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and I hope you enjoy these blog posts, going back to March 2007.
This blog is about my art images, art chat and purchase info.
Much of my art these days is celebrating the Quadricentennial celebration of Henry Hudson's first voyage up the river that now bears his name, in 1609.
There is now a lighthouse on the river on a tiny island outside Saugerties in the mid Hudson Valley. To visit this picturesque lighthouse, you park about a half mile away and walk a path along the river that has beautiful views (and is sometimes under a few inches of water, when the tide comes in). The Hudson River is an estuary or tidal river; sometimes water flows into the Hudson from the Atlantic Ocean and sometimes it flows out again.
This view I have painted is of a pretty spot on the path, at low tide to show a bit of beach. It is entitled "Lighthouse Path on the Hudson" and is 8x10" on stretched canvas. This work was just sold from my studio, to the first collector who saw it.
I show my art by appointment in my studio and at selected galleries, as well as selling online. If you purchase my work from an Internet photo and you are not delighted with it you cn return it for a refund within 30 days.
Or make an appointment to visit my studio; my studio is in a pretty Catskill mountainside location about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area, and within a few hours of most points in New England, NJ and PA.
If you prefer to view art in a gallery, please read my other blog posts for info on the galleries that always have some of my work on exhibit in New York State, New England and California. Or e-mail me for the info.
I am starting to get ready for the annual Saugerties Art Tour August 8 and 9 of this year, when my studio will be open to the public from 10-6 Saturday and Sunday. 31other art and craft studios in the area will also be open. For a free map to the studios please e-mail me or keep an eye on the site www.saugertiesarttour.com
Well, gotta run. Today I am moving from my winter studio to my summer studio area, always a pleasant task despite the bit of drudgery involved.
I would love to hear from you. Have a great weekend!
Ellen

Cliffsides by the Water

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! Don't know about where you are, but the first shoots of grass and the crocuses and daffodils are up in the Hudson Valley, where I live and paint. My art is inspired by nature, and nature here is magnificent. Much of the beauty captured by the nineteenth century masters of the Hudson River School is still intact, and this inspires me first and foremost. These blog posts contain images of my landscapes, art chat and exhibit and purchase info.
My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com and more of my art can be seen on www.artwanted.com/EllenPerantoni
I am just finishing the oil at right, entitled "Cliffsides by the Water". It is 20x30" on stretched canvas, and in one of the traditional gold frames I generally use to frame my paintings it will be almost 30x40" on the wall.
It may eventually be consigned to one of the fine galleries that represent me, where it will be priced in the $3000. range. I would consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector. I also sell my art by appointment at my studio.
If you purchase a work of art from a digital Internet photo without seeing the original, you can return it within 30 days for a refund if you are not delighted.
Most people feel my paintings look a lot better than the Internet photos. My style has a lot of depth which cannot be appreciated from dot-matrix photography.
For a list of art galleries that exhibit my work, with contact info, please read more of these blog posts.
I will be happy to answer any questions and like to chat about Hudson Valley art and history.
Have a great week!

Sailboats on Quiet River, and the Hudson Valley Quadricentennial

Hello, art lovers and blog readers. This is my second blog post in a week, a sign am being energized by the coming spring which is starting to evidence itself in crocuses blooming and delightful warm sunshine.
I paint the landscape in oil, in a manner inspired by the Hudson River school of painting and the slightly later Barbizon School.
I live and paint in the Hudson Valley, which this year is celebrating the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage up this river from what is now New York City. It seems strange to think our country is 400 years old, an age much predating the Declaration of Independence, but it is.
A major center of American civilization started right in this region with Hudson's historic voyage upriver.
Though I'm not familiar with the exact configuration of the ships of 1609, this painting was inspired by my concept of Henry Hudson and his companions on his voyage. Hudson River views in warm weather have a stately, dreamlike and very still feeling that seems timeless. One could sit on the banks and gaze and perhaps meditate for hours, losing track of time.
Even the clouds scarcely seem to move in this painting of ships that are sailing yet seem becalmed.
This work was recently sold by the Driftwood Gallery, 44 No. Division St., Peekskill, NY. The Driftwood has more of my art on exhibit and is open Wed. through Sat. 12-5; I suggest calling first at 914-788-4650.
One of my other Hudson Valley paintings was among 4 selected statewide for a multimedia performance celebrating the Quadricentennial, which toured the state last month.
Much of my work is exhibited and sold by several fine galleries that represent me in New York, Massachusetts and California. If you prefer to view art in a gallery setting, please read other blog posts for gallery and contact information. At the bottom of this page click on "Older Posts".
I also sell from my studio by appointment. The studio is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and within a few hours from most points in New England, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
If you purchase a work from this blog with seeing the original, you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most people feel my work looks much better in actuality.
If you have questions or comments I would love to hear from you.
Have a great weekend,
Ellen

Fields and Distant Light

Hello, art lovers and blog readers! I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the landscape in oil, inspired by the Hudson River School and the slightly later Barbizon School. I live and paint in the Hudson Valley, surrounded by the same fabulous scenery and magical light that inspired the nineteenth century masters who originated this first American school of painting. My e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com I am listed in AskArt and you can read approximately 5 pages about my art in google and yahoo.
The painting at right, "Fields and Distant Light" is a 20x30" oil on stretched canvas which is still drying in my studio. I plan to frame it in a massive traditional gold frame. It will probably be consigned to one of the fine art galleries that represent me and exhibit my work. It will be priced in the $2600-3000range, as framed.
I also show my work by appointment at my studio, which is about 2 hours north of the NYC metro area and a few hours or less from most points in New England, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The drive to my studio in this beautiful country gets nicer with each week that passes, at this time of the year. I would consider a payment plan/fair offer from a sincere collector.
As I paint in a series of glazes, the depth of my finished paintings does not show to its best advantage in any digital photo. If you purchase a work from a digital Internet photo, you can return it within 30 days if you are not delighted. Most people feel they look a lot better in actuality.
Some of the galleries that are exhibiting my work at present are the Driftwood Gallery, Peekskill, NY; The Lionheart Gallery, Pound Ridge, NY; Green (Gallery), Saugerties, NY; Kaaterskill Fine arts, Hunter, NY; and Berkshire Art Gallery, Great Barrington, Mass. Please contact me for addresses and hours of these galleries.
Well, the almost-April showers of the morning are clearing up and I am off to paint today! I hope all of you enjoy this day and this week.
Best,
Ellen

Evergreens at Golf Course

Happy end-of-February, almost-spring to you art lovers and blog readers! I am Ellen Perantoni, painter of the Hudson Valley, and in my region this is a happy time for most of us. While I love to paint the magnificent winters in the Hudson Valley, I love painting and being outside even more when the leaves return to the trees and the landscape is a panoply of greens, broken by blue and silver rivers.
I paint the landscape in oil, in a manner inspired by the Hudson River School and the slightly later Barbizon School of landscape painting. I live and paint mostly in the Hudson Valley of New York State, and my e-mail address is eperantoni@yahoo.com
The painting at right is an 8x10" oil on canvas entitled "Trees at Golf Course". It was inspired by the pretty golf course at Woodstock, NY near my studio.
It is currently on exhibit at Green (Gallery), one of several fine art galleries that represent me. This work, in a traditional massive ornate gold frame, is priced $525. Green is at 92 Partition St., Saugerties, NY, near Exit 20 of the New York State Thruway in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Green is open 7 days a week, mostly fromm 11-5. The phone number at Green is 845-247-3812.
I also sell my art from my studio by appointment. My studio is about 2 hrs. north of the NYC metro area, and within a few hours of most points in New England, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
I hope you will read more of my blog posts, dating back to 2007, and will enjoy them. To see more blog posts, click on "Older Posts" at the bottom of this page. I would love to hear from you with any questions or comments.
Have a great Sunday.
Best, Ellen
